Florence's Cathedral

We saw Florence spread out in a wide valley of astonishing richness and strewn with houses and villas. I made a fast tour of the city, visiting the Duomo ( Florence's Cathedral ) and Battistero. It is a new world, completely unknown, opening before me. But I don't want to stay.
Florence's Cathedral - Looking at the city one can, however, imagine the opulence of the people who built it and recognize that they had the fortune of a series of good governments. That which most impresses in tuscany is the harmony of the large but still graceful public buildings, the streets and the bridges. Here, all is clear and solid with the userful and practical blended with the beautiful. Everywhere one notices a care that animates everything.
